What educators are saying

This was an excellent tool that helped me co-taught classes pull key information out of text then organize it!
My 6th graders did great with this resource! The organizer was easy for them to follow and complete on their own/in groups. The passages are also worded in simple explanations and were perfect for understanding these colonial acts and their impacts.

Description

This graphic organizer and set of 1-page readings is designed for students studying Colonial History/US History and the causes or sparks that led up to the American Revolution. This organizer, entitled "The British: ACTin' Up!", has students investigate what was taxed, why it was taxed, and how the colonists reacted in relation to the following acts:

  • Sugar Act
  • Stamp Act
  • Quartering Act
  • Townshend Acts

Also included with this purchase is four readings & QR codes to videos that allow students to fully complete their investigation and chart! Each reading includes an annotation guide that shows students how to mark up their text for important information.

Teachers can decide whether to fill in the organizer using direct or indirect instruction. This has worked well as a jigsaw activity where individuals/groups work on each one of the four acts and then share their findings with the class!

Happy Teaching!
