Description

Science is divided into many different types or 'branches' such as astronomy, biology, physics, chemistry etc. Students will research branches of science. Then, tey will choose a particular sub-branch of science (for example, a sub-branch of the branch of biology would be marine biology) and they will research information about it by answering questions.

Then, they will do a short presentation for the class about the sub-branch that they chose. They will also bring in a model and/or representation of their sub-branch.

This product includes:

  1. Teacher info: prep and materials needed
  2. Teacher procedure
  3. Teacher tips
  4. "What are my interests?" worksheet
  5. Branches of science research packet
  6. Branches of science presentation info and rubric
  7. Branches of science presentation notes (for students to 'take notes' on the other presentations.)

To do this activity, students will need:

  • Pencil
  • A way to research (i.e. a computer, books, etc.)
  • Copy of "What are my interests?" worksheet (INCLUDED)
  • Branches of science research packet (INCLUDED)
  • Branches of science presentation info and rubric (INCLUDED)
  • A way to present slides (if desired)

This activity is great for science classrooms and teaching students about the different branches of science. This activity would also work well in a language arts classroom as they will be researching a particular subject, doing citations and presenting on it.
