Creating the Challenge Cards
Materials Needed:
- Challenge Cards
- Challenge Cards Templates
- Scissors
- Laminator
- Laminating Pouches
- Dry Erase Markers/Eraser
Implementing the Challenge Cards
Setup:
- Shuffle the deck of Brain & Body Challenge Cards.
- Determine if the session will be competitive (players draw cards and complete challenges in a race against each other) or self-paced (individuals work through the deck at their own pace, focusing on personal improvement).
Gameplay:
- Players draw a card from the deck and read the challenge.
- They first complete the cognitive task, then immediately perform the physical exercise.
- The game continues as players draw more cards, completing as many challenges as they can within a set time limit or until the deck is exhausted.
Adaptations for Different Settings:
- For Individuals: Focus on beating personal bests, such as completing more cards in a given time or improving on specific challenges.
- For Groups: Introduce elements of competition, such as teams racing to complete a set number of cards first or individuals competing head-to-head on specific challenges.
Cooldown and Reflection:
- End the session with a cooldown, including stretching and light walking.
- Encourage participants to reflect on the challenges, discussing which tasks were most difficult and how they felt during the physical exercises.
