Description

Are you looking for interactive ways to teach middle and high school students about understanding social cues and making social inferences? Are your students in speech therapy or social skills less than excited about most social skills activities? It's time to try Boom cards for social skills! These cards are no print, interactive, digital task cards. Your students will love them! In this set, you will receive a deck of 73 cards. The initial cards teach students how to make social inferences, looking for evidence in nonverbal communication clues and text clues. Then, there are cards where social scenarios are portrayed using real photographs of adults and older students. Multiple skin tones are represented. They can be used on your computer, smart board, Ipad and are teletherapy-compatible.

This deck offers the student the option of having directions read to them by clicking on the microphone icon. Helpful for struggling readers.

The deck includes:

  • Home page,
  • Arrows for navigation,
  • Student self-rating,
  • Knowledge check/pre-test,
  • Teaching information.

For tier 1, students read the scenario, examine the photograph for clues, and then are asked to choose 1, 2, or 3 conclusions that can be inferred from the photograph and text. When the student chooses an answer, they receive immediate feedback (visual and auditory) on their response. They are prompted to look for evidence on each slide.

For tier 2, there are open-ended cards where a picture is shown and students must write two inferences they can make about the photograph.

BOOM learning cards are a web-based, interactive platform that is self-checking with sound!
