What educators are saying

This was great for the beginning of the year! It helped students understand how to take care of books.
Great introduction for kindergarten on library etiquette as well as a fun reminder for my upper elementary grades!

Description

Book Care Pocket Chart Sorting Activity ⏐ Library Skills

Teach your students the importance of taking care of books with this fun and simple pocket chart activity!

Young children need a lot of visuals and authentic opportunities to practice classroom rules and routines.  I use this activity in my classroom during the first week of school as a way to teach and model proper care of our library books. I place the cards on a pocket chart in a whole group setting, and we review each card together. After the lesson,  I mount the cards on chart paper and hang them in my reading corner so kids can refer to it as needed throughout the school year.

If you are a school librarian, I've also included a set of cards that say "returns books on time", "forgets to return books on time".
