By blending and segmenting short vowels these blending cards encourage emergent readers to read words using a variety of phonics patterns. Use the consonant-vowel-consonant phoneme cards to help your students transfer their letter-sound knowledge into reading words!

EACH CARD IS DESIGNED WITH:
- Large dots to segment the sounds
- Dotted lines to blend the sounds
- A large arrow to "read it fast"
The large dots indicate where students practice each letter's sound. The dotted lines indicate which sounds are continuous sounds and which are stop sounds. Continuous sounds have dotted lines before and after the sound to show that it continues. Stop sounds stop at the letter.
The arrow encourages students to say the word fast, blending all the sounds together as one.

POCKET CHART BLENDING CARDS
Pocket chart blending cards are included. Each card measures approximately 2.5” tall, which is perfect for most pocket charts. All images are in black and white so that they can easily be printed on colored paper to differentiate the phonics patterns.
Most images are the same images used in my phonics worksheets. Students will be able to work with the cards in a literacy center, sorting words and/or images AND they will be able to work with the SAME images on the phonics worksheets.
HOW TO PRINT THE BLENDING CARDS
While the cards are created full-page for whole group learning, they can also be printed four to a page (or more) for small groups or individual learning. The cards are all black and white for easy printing. For more information on printing the blending cards, see this blog post.
