Description

We've spent years teaching about black history from the perspective of slavery and the civil rights movement. While those lessons are important and very valuable, these slides approach Black history from a different perspective. These slides highlight royalty, joy and good deeds! These slides teach about Black history before slavery. It is important for students to know both sides of the story and have a more well rounded view of Black history. These slides are a great place to start teaching about Black history before lessons on slavery and the Civil Rights Movement. In these slides you will find information about historical figures like Mansa Musa, Queen Nefertari, and Abubakari II. These slides will engage students with coded messages written in hieroglyphics, stories about how love can end wars and ask them to pretend they were going on these journeys and think about what to pack. These lessons are for sure going to leave students wanting more!
