What educators are saying
Description
Engage your students with a ready-to-go Black Plague digital breakout completely done for you and ready for in class or distance learning. This activity is the perfect combination of primary and secondary sources on the Black Death during the Middle Ages as it guides your students through an adventure of survival in medieval Europe.
Similar to an escape room, but all online, this digital breakout will teach students about location, symptoms, reactions and responses, false cures and beliefs, and some of the good and bad effects of the plague. Students will discover and analyze with maps, websites, puzzles, interactive Thinglinks, hidden passwords, medieval interviews, and secret messages.
This product includes:
- Digital Breakout Website (100% Ready-to-go, just give your students the link)
- Breakout Notes sheets for student notes
- Optional Google Form Quiz (to test their knowledge after the breakout)
- Teacher Guide with directions, tips, & explanation of all tasks and codes
What Will This Breakout Be Like?
This breakout uses Google Sites and was designed with middle schoolers in mind. It was also designed with virtual learning in mind, knowing that since I wouldn’t be right beside them, I didn’t want it to be too challenging. For this breakout, there are more tasks (8) than my normal breakouts, but the tasks are less sneaky and have fewer steps. Students will learn & be engaged, but not to the point of struggling to grasp material and needing frequent teacher hints. You know your kids the best! Take a look at the breakout, and decide if you want to make it more/less challenging for your group of kids.
