    Description

Black History Month ela, activities during testing week, Poster black history

Emmett Till was a fourteen-year-old African American boy who was brutally murdered in Mississippi in 1955 after being accused of flirting with a white woman. His death sparked national outrage and helped to galvanize the civil rights movement. Today, his story is often taught as a way of understanding the history of racism and discrimination in the United States. Studying Emmett Till can also help to promote empathy and understanding, as well as provide a valuable lesson in the importance of speaking out against injustice. For these reasons, it is essential that his story continues to be told.
