Black History Month - Solving Linear Equations & Systems
- Google Slides™
Description
In celebration of Black History Month...
This is a fun trivia activity on Google Slides [with PearDeck add-ons!] that allows students to practice:
1. solving linear equations in one variable
2. solving systems of linear equations in two variables, using the substitution method or the elimination method
..while learning about the accomplishments of various black athletes! The numerical answer to each equation/system that they solve, is the answer that goes in the blank of a sentence describing an accomplishment of a black athlete. For example, they solve the equation 1/2x - 10 = -3 to get "14" which goes in the blank for this sentence about Tiger Woods: "In 2008, Tiger Woods won his 14th Major Championship at the U.S. Open." Each equation/system that the students solve is followed up by a fun tidbit about the athlete/accomplishment, as well!
