Description
Are you looking for an exciting Black History Month skit or readers theater play that connects with students using pop culture, has a variety of roles for all students, and teaches history in an engaging way? Then this script is it!
This short play explores the efforts of an eleven year old to learn about Black youth throughout history who have made an impact on American culture. Through guidance from a parent and the use of technology, the child learns about Ruby Bridges, one of the first children to attend an integrated school, Claudette Colvin, a fifteen year old who refused to give up her seat on a bus before Rosa Parks' famous arrest, and Clive Campbell, the teen better known as DJ Kool Herc who got Hip Hop started in New York City!
Kid-friendly, entertaining dialogue with pop-culture references!
This play mixes pop-culture topics such as virtual reality, Hip Hop and rap music, and other engaging themes into the characters' dialogue to keep the performance fresh and engaging. (DJ Kool Herc explains what Hip Hop really is about and how it started.) This script works well as a Black History Month skit for an assembly or classroom read aloud. With a fun and easy-to-use script, you, your cast, and your audience are in for a great time!
When the theater stops, the learning doesn't!
