What educators are saying

We used this for a door decorating contest for Black History Month. The expectations were easy for students to follow.
I loved using this to integrate reading, research, and math with my students. This was a fantastic bulletin board material and I will definitely be using it every year.

Description

This Black History Month activity is a great way to get students thinking about the contributions of African Americans in the mathematics world.

In this activity, students are given 10 different options for black mathematicians to research and create a banner for. Students will research their birth/death, famous quotes, fun facts, significant contributions, and connections to your math class.

The final product is a colorful and creative banner that displays important information about different African American mathematicians. Students will learn about these people, their contributions, their significance, and how their work impacts their classroom today.

This is a great ready-made, zero-prep activity to celebrate Black History Month in the math classroom.
