Description
Famous Folks of Black History Enrichment Centers was written to be a companion product of my Top-50 Best Seller Famous Folks of Black History. I'm sure you'll love these enrichment centers just as much!
This product focuses on ten African-American Greats:
Ruby Bridges-First Student to Desegregate a School
Martin Luther King Jr.-Civil Rights Activist
Frederick Douglass-Civil Rights Activist
Jesse Owens-Olympic Track and Field Record Holder
Jackie Robinson-Major League Baseball Player
Harriet Tubman-Civil Rights/Women's Rights Activist, Underground Railroad Conductor, Abolitionist, Civil War Spy & Nurse (You Go Girl!
Phillis Wheatley-Poet
Thurgood Marshall-US Supreme Court Justice
George Washington Carver-Scientist/Inventor
Benjamin Banneker-Astronomer/Scientist/Almanac Publisher
Written specifically around Kinder, First and Second Common Core Standards, each center and activity focuses on one of the above Famous Folks, in either the ares of literacy or math.

George W. Carver~PB & J Sandwiches (Time to half-hour/hour)
MLK Jr.~ I Have a Dream (About Fractions!) (Fraction Sort)
Ruby Bridges~ School Lunch...Yuck! (True/False Equation Sort)
Literacy:
Harriet Tubman~ I Spy a Vowel Around the Room Activity (CVC, CVVC, CVCE Spelling)
Benjamin Banneker~ Star Light, Star Bright (Syllable Sort)
Jesse Owens~ I'm a Punctuation Champ! (Punctuation Sort)
Jackie Robinson~ CVC Homerun (CVC Spelling)
Phillis Wheatley~ Awesome Adjectives (Antonyms/Synonyms)
Each center and activity includes a student friendly Direction Card that connects each center with its Famous Folk. Each also includes a recording sheet to hold students accountable for their work. In addition, I've included a full-page, illustrated poster that gives a brief background of the Famous Folks' most notable accomplishments. I added this bonus so this product could be used as a stand-alone teaching tool; so if you don't have much time or the resources to reach and teach about Black History, then your students will receive some background about these history greats also. The graphics used are from the ever-so-popular Melonheadz and will grab your kiddos attention. These enrichment centers are interactive and will challenge your students, while there's an element of differentiation involved with each. So even your ESL/ELL and Special Education students can benefit from using them.
