Description
Use for Black History Month or any time of the year......50 research posters.....a poster for every child.
February is Black History Month (also known as African American History Month) in the US, so what a great opportunity to learn about the role these fascinating individuals played in history.
Here is a video to show how you might use this product with TpT's new digital activity tool to assign it through Google Classroom: View Video Here
NOTE: I originally included Kevin Clash (original voice of Elmo) as an option. He was in the news (although charges dropped due to statute of limitations) for some accusations, so you may want to consider NO LONGER using that poster if you have the original pack. He was replaced with Mary McLeod Bethune. Due to this, the poster for the bulletin board had to also be redesigned. The new one is pictured in the thumbnails, but the old one is in the video above. Thanks for your understanding.

I have marked these posters for grades 3-6, but I feel they will be most popular in grades 3-5. Please use your best judgment and click on the PREVIEW button above to get a better idea as to what you are purchasing. Some teachers in grades 7-8 may also find these suitable. Once again, look closely and you can decide. :-)
This pack is saved as a pdf. file
Grab your media specialist, get your computers ready, and have fun learning about some new people.
Late January (you could start these in late Jan and display them in Feb) or February is the perfect time to let students start doing some research independently. They have been in school for half the year, so it's time to see what they can do. :-)
You can use these posters at any point throughout the year, as I typed black history and not black history 'month' on them.
Let your students share what they have learned about their famous person by using this 8.5 x 11 biography poster.
On each poster you will find the name of a famous African American along with a black/white outline image of the person.
Students will fill in the below information:
*Their own name
*Birth/Death of individual (if they have died)
*Explain why they are famous
*3 important facts about the person
*If they could ask the person a question, what would it be
*Obstacles faced
*A person that influenced the famous person and how they did it
*Personality trait and evidence
You will find that some are more famous than others, but with 50 posters, students could each do a different report. OR, if you want to focus on the more famous people, you could have 2 students do the same person. Use them however you would like.

**A blank poster with no image or name is also included. It can be used with any person. Students can draw or print an image to place in the picture area.
I have also included an 8.5x11 Title poster that you could laminate and hang above the posters.
My posters look great hanging in the hallway or in the classroom on a bulletin board.
NOTE: Once you have displayed them, they would be great to bind in order to make a class book. Use the title page I made as the cover for the book. What a great class project!! Kids will enjoy reading it for the rest of the year.
Thanks so much, as I always appreciate it when people stop by to look at my products.
