Do you want to help your students learn about African American history? Do you want to support diversity and an inclusive classroom? Then download this no prep Black History Month Activity a Research WebQuest resource! This no-prep, editable, in-class, and digital activity is an online scavenger hunt of the Smithsonian Museum of African American History and Culture!

This activity allows students to learn about the museum's collection in a fun and engaging manner. Played individually or in small groups, this WebQuest includes items to find, stories to read, and reflection questions.

Students will explore the museum (either virtually or in person!) to further their understanding of the following:

  • Frederick Douglass
  • Harriet Tubman
  • The Tulsa Race Riot
  • Emmett Till
  • Emancipation Proclamation
  • Buffalo Soldiers
  • Significance of August 28
  • Black Panthers
  • Million Man March
  • Little Rock
  • Music, sports, and much more!

  • This can be completed in one full 45-minute class
