Description

Black History - Math Stations - Ratios/ Rates/ Proportions

In this activity, your students will be learning about courageous Black figures from history, while also practicing ratios, rates, and proportions! On each station cards, they will learn a little bit about the figure on the card, and also have to solve a problem related to the situation on the card. It is a great way integrate important parts of our nation’s history into our math classes! Students can rotate through the stations you have set up with these cards, or there is the option to print a worksheet with the same questions so each student can have their own!

Directions:

Print out station cards and post them around the room. Print out and give each student the answer sheet to record their work and their answers. Break students into groups and assign them a station to start. Then have students rotate through the stations. You can set a timer for a designated amount of time at each station (I recommend 5-6 minutes).

**If you prefer to have students work individually, there is a second option of printing this as a worksheet instead of as stations.
