Description

This lesson introduces your students to the history and art work of Gees Bend. Gees Bend were enslaved women from the rural, isolated community of Boykin, who began quilting in the 19th century. Your 2nd - 5th grade Students will have the opportunity to explore texture and paper craft. They will create a beautiful unique art piece inspired by Gees Bend and the techniques in this lesson offers incredible results – a great encouragement for those reluctant artists.
