Description

This is a Google Slides presentation that introduces students to Binomial Nomenclature. It describes the meaning and origin of Binomial Nomenclature and how to identify common v. scientific names of living organisms. The last few slides present a Student Activity in which students will create a portfolio of animal/plant images with the scientific name and an English rendering. I used this presentation in my Latin class before students took a field trip to our local zoo. They used images taken at the zoo to create their portfolios. However, students can easily search for images online to create the portfolio as well.
