    This lesson introduces the 3 most common syllable types in the English language: Closed, Open, and Vowel Consonant E. It includes a presentation, guided notes, teacher notes/directions, and I do, We do, You do practice opportunities to really solidify students' understanding of these important foundational skills for reading multi-syllabic words.

    The following concepts are directly covered in this lesson:

    • Vowels and consonants
    • Long and short vowels
    • Syllable definition and syllable counting opportunities
    • Syllable types: open, closed, and VCe

    This lesson was made with older Orton-Gillingham students in mind. It covers the basic, foundational OG skills but with more complex practice opportunities.
