What educators are saying

I an excited about reading this and my students seem engaged and it is curriculum aligned. Thanks for sharing the resource!

Description

This 21-page document includes multiple pre-reading activities you can use to introduce your students to the epic, Beowulf. The different activities involve individual, partner, or small group work that build on each other; however, it is not necessary that you do ALL of the pre-reading activities. You can pick and choose which one best suits you, the individuals in your classroom, and your allotted time frame.

These activities can be used again and again, year after year, and they can be easily manipulated to cater to individual needs.

Areas of Focus Include:
-- The Oral Tradition of Storytelling
-- Paganism and Christian Influences
--Characteristics of the Epic Hero and Anglo-Saxon Poetry
--The Psychology of Terror: What is a nightmare?

Contents:
--4 Scripted Pre-Reading Activities, which help develop the following Common Core skills:
-----Public Speaking
-----Listening
-----Writing
-----Reading
--Handouts to Guide Activities
--Optional Homework Assignments
--Visuals
**Also includes one of my other products: The Characteristics of an Epic Hero.**
