I teach character building lessons every Thursday to 54 Kindergartens (it is one of my extra duties while teachers have their weekly collaboration meeting). This 6 weeks we are talking about respect. I made this "Being a Good Friend" sorting game for them this week! I liked it so much that I adapted it to sell on TPT!
This download includes:
• A large group activity (sorting big pictures into a box/bin)
• A small group activity (a file folder sorting activity with velcro).
• Large and small thumbs up/thumbs down signs
• 3 worksheets (circle the "Being A Good Friend")
• 1 drawing worksheet (draw someone being a good friend).
• a BOOM Card deck with three activities
There are 36 behaviors (sharing a toy, hitting, smiling, helping a friend, telling a lie, ect...) for the students to decide if they are "Being a Good Friend" or "Not Being a Good Friend." I also made thumbs up and thumbs down signs to use during the lesson (the kids LOVED this!). I also included 4 worksheets that you could use to reinforce the concept afterwards!
There are three included activities in this BOOM card deck.
- Friend or Not a Friend: This student will look at a picture with a behavior or an action. They will choose the "being a good friend" button or "not being a good friend" button for each picture. There are 25 cards for this task.
- Sorting Game: There are 6 cards in this activity. Each card has 6 pictures to sort into a "being a good friend" bin or a "not being a good friend" bin.
- Thumbs up or Thumbs down: There are 15 cards in this activity. The student will drag the thumbs up icon over the good friend action and the thumbs down icon over the not a friend action.
Please note about the BOOM Card version! This was intended to be completed with the student either face to face or in teletherapy (not an independent activity for the student to do alone). It does not include audio (I read the prompts to the students or if I assign it, I give instructions for parents to read the prompts). Please makes sure you understand this before you buy!
