About This Resource:

  • These beginning sound matching task cards perfect small groups, morning bins, word work, or independent center activity for spring!
  • These are the perfect early literacy to accompany a bunny-themed read aloud anytime during spring or close to Easter!

This Resource Includes:

  • 26 letter cards with a corresponding beginning sound picture card
  • Recording sheet
  • Answer key
  • Please note: in alignment with the science of reading, the picture "box" is used to represent the Xx sound since this sound does not occur at the beginning of words that are familiar to children. This is the only letter/sound match that is not a beginning sound. It is noted on the bottom of the card that the picture represents the *ending sound.

Directions for Use:

Preparation:

  • Print, cut, and laminate letter and picture cards
  • Print recording sheets

How to play:

  • Mix up letter and picture cards.
  • Have children sort the cards to find the picture that corresponds with the beginning sound of each letter card.
  • For example, if they pick up the letter Dd card, they will look for the card with the picture of the dinosaur on it.
  • Since the dinosaur card has the #23 on it, they will go to spot #23 on their recording sheet and write the letter: Dd.

Variations:

  • This can be played without the recording sheet if children are not yet ready to write their letters and only working on recognition.
  • Simply have them match the letter cards with the object cards.

Printing Directions:

  • Once your payment is processed, this PDF will be available to download.
  • Be sure to change your printer settings to fit to page to ensure no part of the document is cut off. This usually works by selecting "fit to printable area."

This is a digital download (you will not receive a physical item) and will be available upon receipt of payment. It will print on a standard 8.5x11in sheet of paper.
