What educators are saying

My students and I love all the options this gives us. The permission slip already being created was a big help as well. I do wish their was a section for students to write in their own suggestions.

Description

One of my favorite electives I teach is Film Appreciation for middle schoolers. Included in this set is an introductory lesson with a fill-in, follow-along worksheet for the students. It is simple for them to understand and follow, while still learning the basics of film. I used my old favorite movies, but I have made everything in Word so you can edit and replace anything with movies you choose. I had the students either fill out a "Critic's Corner" sheet for each movie, or turn in a paper at the end of the quarter. I have included the "Critic's Corner" sheet and the written paper guidelines.

Included with this set are eight syllabuses (that are the same with only the movie choices and theme changed, since I usually only have a student once during elective rotations while they are at our school). One syllabus has a long list of movies, the other seven are themes including:

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

That's Hilarious

80's

I Need a Hero

Out of this World

Pirates & Princesses

Action & Adventure

They each contain 5-7 movies that I chose, but you can change them to the movies you love. I made them with a permission slip on the second page for parents to sign. All movies are PG or PG-13, and although I personally tried to obtain "clean" versions of these films, I ended up showing originals and giving my usual "speech" about bad language and such... you know what I mean. ;-)

Files are in a Zip drive.

Thank you for looking!

Update: I tailored this kit to more of a "watching and analyzing" class, not an actively making movies class. Resources are a little scarce at my school, so this is truly an appreciation and theory class. This resource is a building block in order for you to tailor this class to your own taste.
