Description

In this fun natural selection activity students will simulate Darwin's finches and see how survival of the fittest can lead to evolution.

This lab is available for free many places online, I just took bits and pieces of what worked for me and compiled it into a new format. In this lab, students will simulate birds needing to collect food. Each bird has a different beak (tweezers, clothespin, etc) and collects different food types (macaroni, beans, etc.) This lab has been left editable so you can change the materials to whatever you have on hand. Students will understand how natural selection leads to evolution in a population.

Supports NGSS MS-LS4-4 and HS-LS4-3
