Description

This product contains everything you need to bring the beach to your classroom and keep your students engaged in challenging review problems that cover a variety of common core standards.

This transformation/simulation could either be used all day, or spread across multiple days. It depends on your students, and your schedule. You can also structure it differently, so that students solve every task card - or, there is a time limit for each portion of the simulation.

Each activity includes:
-A scenario that goes with the simulation/transformation
-Instructions for setting up each activity
-Instructions for the activity
- Recording Sheet (with 3 options - 2 page recording sheet, 1 page recording sheet, or work mat)
-Answer Key

There are 5 activities in all.
-Division review
-Fraction task cards
-Word Problem task cards
-Poetry vocabulary (includes definitions, and a blank page if you'd like to use your own definitions or have students record definitions prior to the transformation)
-Poetry task cards

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns - we would love your feedback.

We are working on adding Kindergarten, first, second, fourth, and fifth grade versions of this transformation - so stay tuned.

Fluently multiply and divide within 100, using strategies such as the relationship between multiplication and division (e.g., knowing that 8 ร— 5 = 40, one knows 40 รท 5 = 8) or properties of operations. By the end of Grade 3, know from memory all products of two one-digit numbers.
Solve two-step word problems using the four operations. Represent these problems using equations with a letter standing for the unknown quantity. Assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies including rounding.
