Be an Entrepreneur Market Research Project

In this project, high school business students will imagine they are starting their own businesses to conduct market research. With the business concept in mind, students will craft a market research question, create a survey, gather data, analyze and report their findings, and make recommendations for their business concept based on their research. Market research can be used throughout the product life cycle, but for this project, students will be using market research to help explore the market opportunity and better understand the needs of consumers.

This product includes 2 options for implementing the project. The different versions cover the same material but have been provided to help fit the needs of your classroom.

• For option 1, students use the provided 13-page project template in Google Slides™ to work through the market research process (also included as print). Project instructions are included to walk students through this process. Students will report all answers in this document. Use the Be an Entrepreneur Market Research in Google Slides™ Grading Rubric to assess student work.

• For option 2, students will create a poster with the content requirements provided in the project instructions. An optional 2-page worksheet (print and digital) is also included. Use the Be an Entrepreneur Market Research Worksheet & Poster Grading Rubric or Be an Entrepreneur Market Research Poster Grading Rubric to assess student work. This selection is based on your choice to include or exclude the worksheet.

The Be an Entrepreneur Market Research Project is best completed after your students have completed the FREE Be an Entrepreneur Idea Starter Kit to develop their business concept. This resource can stand alone or accompany any of the other projects in the Be an Entrepreneur Simulation.

The Be an Entrepreneur Simulation was designed to make entrepreneurship realistic for high school business students with a fun and engaging start-up venture project. It evokes student interest, by having them apply their own strengths, knowledge, and passions to select a business concept that would be a good fit for them.
