    Description

This is a fantastic way to teach your students about place value using base ten blocks. Your students will see a rod being formed from 10 units. A flat being formed from 10 rods. And, they will see a cube being formed from 10 flats. They will then have the opportunity to record numbers. This is a self-checking video.

A recording sheet has been provided. The bright, colorful video will capture their attention. The actual recording sheet is used for checking so your students can check using their worksheet. It is also self-checking so it is very gratifying throughout.

I tried to pace these videos to fit the needs of ages 5 - 10, but since all children are different, you may need stop the video if necessary.

    Also included in this resource:

    • 4 Base Ten Posters (Unit, Rod, Flat and Cube)

    • 36 Composing Numbers Task Cards (Students will represent a number 2 different
ways using base ten rods and units.)

This product is sold separately here:

Compose and decompose numbers from 11 to 19 into ten ones and some further ones, e.g., by using objects or drawings, and record each composition or decomposition by a drawing or equation (e.g., 18 = 10 + 8); understand that these numbers are composed of ten ones and one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, or nine ones.
Understand that the two digits of a two-digit number represent amounts of tens and ones. Understand the following as special cases:
10 can be thought of as a bundle of ten ones - called a “ten.”
The numbers from 11 to 19 are composed of a ten and one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, or nine ones.
The numbers 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 refer to one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, or nine tens (and 0 ones).
