Band Pre-test/Instrumental Music Test- Written & Performance

I used this test as my sixth grade pre-test for the school year. It is worth 80 points (you can adjust how needed) and there are two portions to this assessment: Written & Performance/Listening. The written section has 20 multiple choice questions including questions on dynamic symbols, tempo, articulations, style markings, rhythms, note identifications, etc.. It will ask students to identify the meaning of the top and bottom numbers of five different time signatures. There are six fill-in-the-blank questions at the end of this section that includes a word bank. The performance section includes a rubric for performing two scales, posture section, and a multiple choice listening section in which the teacher will need to pick a rhythm to clap/play for the students and they identify which rhythm you played. This test worked very well to demonstrate/document growth throughout the year and had sections of stretch for students who were taking private lessons and studied advanced material.
