Description

Are your students learning about balanced and unbalanced forces? This activity will have your students analyze different scenarios to determine if an object is balanced or unbalanced. Students will also work on calculating net force and determining if an object's speed changes when an outside force acts on it. Add this digital activity to your lesson plans today!

For the first 2 activities, students will watch 2 videos that explain balanced/unbalanced forces and work on vocabulary definitions. The next activity has students observing scenarios to determine if the object is balanced or unbalanced. In the next 2 activities, the students will be calculating net force. And the last activity students will determine what happens to an object when an unbalanced force acts upon it.

This resource is aligned with the following standards:

TEKS 6.7B Calculate the net force on an object in a horizontal or vertical direction using diagrams and determine if the forces are balanced or unbalanced.

MS-PS2-2 Plan an investigation to provide evidence that the change in an object’s motion depends on the sum of the forces on the object and the mass of the object.
