BUNDLED - Storytelling Unit - Distance Learning & In Classroom Learning

Why tell stories? This may be exactly what your students may think when you introduce this unit, but through this 2 week storytelling unit, you will teach your students the value in telling stories, how to effectively tell stories in an engaging way, experience stories through professional storytellers, and become closer as a whole class through a shared experience of storytelling. In this unit, we will follow the tips and guidelines from The Moth, a live storytelling experience where amateur and professional storytellers perform to understand the world a little bit better. Students will get the chance to create their own Moth experience right in your classroom. 

This unit is a BUNDLE of the full distance learning unit as well as the original in-classroom unit. The full distance learning unit has been adapted from its original format to be used quickly and EASILY into a full distance learning environment through Google Classroom. Each day is divided out by giving you detailed instructions for posting announcements, assignments, questions, and all coordinating attachments within Google Classroom along with copy and paste instructions for those assignments. All you have to do is read the calendar, copy, paste, and post! The original in-classroom unit maps out daily what you would do in the classroom. Combining these two units will give you multiple options for a hybrid situation.

In the distance learning unit, this product will also walk you through using Flipgrid and Zoom/Google Meet in order to have your students experience drama in the best way possible from a distance learning environment. Never fear if you have not used these products before! Video instructions will give you the confidence to implement these activities with ease.  

You will guide your students through fun and engaging activities with storytelling through multimedia experiences and performance. The unit offers multiple points for reflection of their own work and the work of their peers. All will culminate in a final project where students will tell a story from their past in front of the class much in the way a live Moth performance is held. 

All documents will be in Google Doc format and all instructions will be geared towards Google Classroom. As notes above, you will also need a free Flipgrid account and a free Zoom/Google Meet account.
