{BUNDLE} Thunder Rolling in the Mountains - Summaries + Comprehension Activities

When teaching this book, we found that our struggling readers had a hard time following along and keeping the characters straight. These resources were created with support from a Special Education teacher to preview or review specific skills to aid in comprehension throughout the novel study.

Chapter Summaries

Individual chapter summaries written with English Language Learners and students with learning disabilities in mind.

Summaries are detailed enough to allow scholars to follow along with the text and actively participate in class discussions but low enough of a reading level to allow struggling scholars to independently engage with the text.

Each chapter is roughly 200 words and has a readability level less than 4.0 once names are removed. With character and place names, readability level is close to 4.5.

Comprehension Activities

Certain pages can be shared as is and provided to students on the front end to reference throughout the text, while others are activity based to aid in comprehension. Answer keys are included.
