    Description

    Your students will enojoy reading meaningful and understandable informational texts! Content based reading experience gives learners confident and real feelings to use the language. These nonfiction passages are written with scaffolding support such as pre-reading question, visual images, simple layout, furigana for kanji, vocabulary list, etc. Comprehension quiz facilitates leaners to recognize specific information and recall the reading.

    *Revised, March 2023 "Honshu" worksheet:

    Japan recounted the number of the islands and announced in March 2023 that it increased from 6852 to 14125. This resource was revised with this new number.

    ■ How to use

    STEP 1: Pre-reading question 

    In each first page, there is a question along with image(s). You can show the first page on a screen  in your class and let learners predict/guess the answer. This attracts learners' interest and lets them be ready to read. You can also introduce some key words related to the image during this step.

    STEP 2: Reading

    You can choose how to read the passage depending on how you plan the lesson.

    • You can read it aloud and learners will listen to it.
    • Learners can read it aloud in turn in the class or with a partner.
    • Learners can read it by themselves as well.

    STEP 3: Comprehension quiz

    There are two quiz sections, text based questions and sel-learning questions. Learners can do pair/individual work and you can have feedback in class.

    The passages include mainly JLPT N5 level grammar.
