What educators are saying

This is a great resource to use during black history month or just combined in a music history unit. I used it with jazz and blues.

Description

This BUNDLE features 3 individual POWER-POINT files AND 1 PDF Teacher's Guide that are sold separately in my store but purchasing them in this BUNDLE saves you $4.00. With this purchase, you will receive the following files:

Genres explored and studied in this entire unit of study (ALL Parts 1, 2, 3 combined) are as follows:
Introduction to the Unit - (part 1)
Civil War/Underground Railroad/Harriet Tubman/Drinking Gourd - (part 1)
Blues - (part 2)
Ragtime - (part 2)
Jazz (Dixieland, Swing, Be-Bop, and Much More) - (part 3)
Bibliography/Resources/Citations - (part 3)

Activities included in this interactive unit of study are researching/understanding the significance of the Civil War and the purpose of the Underground Railroad and how music played a huge role in this movement, identifying the characteristics of Ragtime music, identifying why/how the Blues originated, and classifying/labeling/identifying the various forms of Jazz. This file is very large and, when available, has multiple forms of media and attachments included. Because of its size, individual chapters/files have been compressed into zip files. Video & Sound clips, listening maps, suggested websites & children's literature connections are provided when available, however, due to copyright laws as well as file & media size, SOME media files are not attached but directions, suggestions, and navigation are given on how to attach them on your own. Very clear details, helpful hints, & teaching suggestions are also included in the teacher notes sections under individual slides when PPT is in slide view mode (not presentation mode) to help best guide you in how to present the unit/information.
