BIG Physical Science Bundle - Distance Learning

Escape Room Activities

Each of the digital escape room breakout activities is designed as a set of rooms (pages that require students to solve puzzles). Students only advance to the next 'room' when they have successfully completed the puzzle for the current page.

On average, each of the thirteen digital escape room activities can be expected to require approximately 45 minutes to complete.

Each of the activities comes complete with instructions and an answer key (passwords for each page are in the instructions document included in the .zip files).

I have found that these digital escape room activities are excellent teaching tools. They help to teach and reinforce objectives while keeping students engaged in a game-like environment. In my experience, it is very rare for students to ever give up on these activities - they simply keep working to complete the puzzles.

Learning Activities

* IMPORTANT: These learning activities only work for you if you have a Google account. If you already have a gmail email address, you have free access to Google Drive through that account. If you do not have access to a Google Drive account, you will need to create a free account to be able to use these documents. Please make sure that you have set up a Google account with access to Google Drive before purchasing this product.

** IMPORTANT: Students do no need an account to use and complete the assignments, but you must have an account to download them, set them up and manage them.

*** IMPORTANT: You will be downloading a copy of the documents from my own personal Google Drive and you can only do this if you have a Google Drive account yourself.

When you purchase this product, you will not be downloading the actual activities. It is not possible to zip these files, so you will instead be downloading a detailed set of instructions, complete with screenshots, on how to copy and download the documents from my Google Drive to yours. Also included are the instructions for setting up the Google Drive spreadsheet that will grade and store student responses. Lastly, the instructions will walk you through the steps required to share the lesson with your students.

These activities are designed to help students learn processing skills in order to become lifelong learners. The activities are student-centered and are usually done as cooperative learning in a group setting (although these particular activities can also be used as individual and/or enrichment activities). Most often the teacher serves as a facilitator in these type activities.

Once you have completed each download and set it up to record student submissions you will have a copy of the activity as well as a spreadsheet of submitted responses in your own Google Drive. You will be granted permission to edit the questions and answers, question types, the order of the questions, and the number of questions for each lesson. You will be given permission to add or delete questions to fit your personal needs, but not for resale.

Each lesson is designed to guide students on a learning journey. These activities are typically be used as an introductory assignment - before you cover the material in class. On average, each activity requires approximately twenty to thirty for all students to complete the activity, although the times will vary depending upon the amount of content that is covered in the lesson and the ability levels of your students. Once the students have completed the activity, I typically use them as a review tool for the topic as we go back over the lesson in a group discussion.
