Supporting Indigenous Resources for Inclusive Learning for Primary Elementary School Students

This learning resource based on the enduring story,

Awasis and the World-Famous Bannock, uses the reading strategies: problem and solution, connection, summary, and theme.

Also included are:

  • a coding on paper activity
  • a mapping/retell activity
  • animal and ingredient English/Cree vocabulary mini-books
  • English/Cree procedural recipe writing activity

This unit is developed to support a single read aloud copy. There is zero prep needed (other than photocopying) and has 8 different activities to support the story.
