Description
Looking for another way to help your students identify author’s reasons and evidence? Determining an author's reasons and providing evidence can be difficult for students to master, but with this set of 40 helpful and differentiated practice task cards, it can be easy!
Much like main idea and key details for literature, an author makes a point in a text and needs support. With each task card, students will need to choose the correct answer that accurately supports the opinion (statement) on each card. The correct answer is the evidence to support the author’s claim!
This resource is designed 4th and 5th grade, but can easily be used by older students who need a little support.
This task card set includes:
★ 32 task cards
★ 8 challenge task cards
★ 2 task cards for students to write their own questions
★ 1 poster explaining ‘Author’s Reasons and Evidence’
★ Answer Key (written on 2 task cards- keep the cards with the answer key!)
★ Student Response Sheet
These task cards are differentiated. The cards start with easier reading levels and progressively become more challenging. Only you know that the level has changed. You can easily assign the number of cards that are appropriate for your students.
Cards 1-10 are written at a third grade level.
Cards 11-20 are written at a fourth grade level.
Cards 21-32 are written at a fifth grade level.
