2nd Grade author's point and reasons in informational texts!
This pack includes five 2nd grade level reading passages and five simplified texts for students reading below grade level that are perfect for comparing and contrasting on standard RI.2.9. The grade level passages fall within the Lexile level range of 710-780, which is the Common Core State Standards expectation for 2nd grade. The simplified and shortened passages are all written at a Lexile level between 380-520. The Lexile level is marked at the top of each passage. This makes it easy to differentiate for your readers!
RIGOROUS AND COMMON CORE ALIGNED
Each passage has two pages of carefully written and consistent close reading tasks and text dependent questions. The first page of tasks are specifically aligned to the standard of identifying the author's point and the reasons that support the author's point. The 2nd page of activities is a spiral of other 2nd Grade RI standards. This is perfect for holding those kids accountable for everything they have already learned! No skill slipping on your watch!
WHAT CAN THIS BE USED FOR?
This is perfect for class-wide close reading, assessments, guided reading groups, or homework. Your students must refer to the text and provide textual evidence of their understanding.
