Description

What is it made from? Science Materials Unit (Foundation) is aligned with the Australian Curriculum and is the ideal way to make learning science interesting, creating engaging experiences for students to explore and investigate the world around them. The US version is included with the correct terminology and spelling appropriate for the US (America).The unit has been designed with engaging worksheets and activities. Students will use their senses to observe and describe the behaviours and properties of everyday objects and materials. They will learn that objects are made of materials that have observable properties. Students will use their senses to describe how objects and materials look and feel. They will understand that some materials are transparent and opaque, and they will investigate the absorbency of materials and understand the reasons why certain materials are chosen based on its properties. Students will complete the unit designing and building a safe house to protect the fourth little pig from the big, bad wolf in the story of The Three Little Pigs. The students will design, create and build a home to protect the fourth little pig from the big, bad wolf blowing the house down.

All the Lesson/activities have matching printables or worksheets! In the Unit of work Students will explore and use their senses to observe and communicate their findings. The Science Unit is aligned with the Australian Curriculum ACARA Foundation Outcomes including cross-curricular links.

All of your planning has been done for you with a 10 Week Unit Plan including 10 Lessons. The Unit of work includes interactive features to navigate through the unit of work. The Interactive links allow you to navigate to different resources required for each lesson (matching worksheets, labels, displays and supporting video resources including songs to allow the students to sing along and learn at the same time). All you need to do is print, prepare and teach the lesson?

These are ideal activities for students to use to investigate and explore the different properties of everyday objects and materials around them while at home during this time of school closures. The Unit of Work has been designed for Australian Teachers aligned to the Australia Curriculum.
