Description

In this activity, students will use a guide to create an art piece that shows the auroras from two points of view. The guide instructions the students to divide their page as shown, and along the side they will depict the formation of the auroras beginning with a solar flare on the sun, the solar wind travelling through space, and the charged particles being directed towards the poles. The larger section has the students divide the ionosphere into different areas by altitude. The guide explains the different colors that are formed in each layer of the ionosphere.

This activity is a great addition to the Auroras ALL-IN-ONE Lesson Plan and the Auroras Doodle Note and Anchor Chart.

This PDF file contains:

• student art guide (US & UK spelling included)

• an exemplar art piece

Each student will need a piece of black cardstock or construction paper, and access to chalk or chalk pastels. I buy black cardstock at Michaels.

This activity is part of a number of other resources:

Auroras ALL-IN-ONE Lesson

Astronomy ALL-IN-ONE Lesson Bundle
