Description

Are middle school students getting a little rowdy in your elective classes with them? Well, I created this rubric to reward the class' behavior when it is the way I accept it.

I teach 1 middle school class a week, and they would rather talk to each other than listen to me talk about career development. I created this "quiz" rubric to keep my students accountable to themselves, and to better respect not just me but other teachers. I chose this route specifically because it is a career class, and if you are disrespectful to your boss in the future it won't get you far. Just like their grade, if their grade isn't good then they don't pass it.

I do this once a week as a normal classwork grade of 20pts and at the beginning of the period I display a codename they chose with their score. Then I do a 50-point test grade at the end of the quarter and let them summarize their previous scores to determine it. After they summarize their actions on this "test", I do the same. I also let them write on the back why they felt they did poorly or why they felt they did great this quarter.

This has helped my classroom so much, the atmosphere has definitely changed here.
