Atlantic Slave Trade Blended Learning Rotation Station Model Activity

Now that 1 to 1 is all the rage schools want to utilize their technology and expose their students to new ways of learning especially Blended Learning. This product will give the teacher everything they need to successfully implement a blended learning station rotation lesson on the Atlantic Slave Trade based primarily off of TEKS 7C: Explain the Impact of the Atlantic slave trade on West Africa and the Americas.

Student Expectation: 7C; The student will explain the impact of the Atlantic slave trade on West Africa and the Americas.

Language Objective: Students will work in groups and individually to analyze documents, view a video and discuss while recording their findings during a Blended Learning Station Rotation lesson on the impact of the Atlantic slave trade on West Africa and the Americas.

How this works: Students will have 4 stations to rotate through. Ideally the teacher would start out with their special populations groups (SIOP, ELL or SPED) and set them up for success by instructing the students on the task at hand and what to expect in the following stations. Then the teacher should place the other three groups so that they see their lower level learners next, middle achievers third and their high achievers last. The other stations include primary source documents on the impacts of the slave trade on West Africa and the Americas both socially and economically. There is also a video for students to watch on their electronic device.

The download now includes adapted primary source documents, key vocabulary define, sentence stems and adapted short answer for ELL, SPED, SIOP and low level learners. These adapted documents can be used in conjunction with or in replace of the original documents depended on your class make-up.
