What educators are saying

These are such beautiful art projects and I love that we can learn about different Canadian artists as we work through them!
Quite a few of these Canadian art projects integrated well with our Political and Physical Regions unit for Social Studies. My students were really engaged! I'm excited to explore the sculpture/printmaking activities too.

Description

This set of ELEVEN art projects incorporates painting, sculpture, drawing and design to create projects that bring the work of Canadian artists to life through the eyes of children while exploring painting, drawing, sculpting, weaving and incorporating new mediums.

This inspiring product includes:

  • eleven different art projects (each one can usually be completed within a few hours from start to the end of clean-up).
  • complete lesson plans with step-by-step instructions with modifications to differentiate for your students (or your available supplies).
  • photographs of student examples.
  • reflection pages for students in English and French.
  • instructions to minimize prep work and clean up.
  • art projects designed for the "not-an-art-teacher" generalist.

The artists chosen are from all over Canada. They are from a variety of ethnic backgrounds including Indigenous People, Chinese, Spanish, Filipino and Japanese which adds to the variety of mediums and styles.

Be sure to view the preview for examples of the lessons.

***Thank you for this resource. Very well organized and everything you need right at your fingertips. Compliments my curriculum perfectly (Thank you Ashley B!)

***I found this resource at the end of the year - but I can't wait to use it throughout next year as it aligns so well with our curriculum. The students loved these lessons and came up with so much creativity on their own. I'm not sure why, but they had instant buy-in just because these were Canadian Artists. Such a valuable resource! (Thank you Vicki C!)

***Another Brain Ninja win!!!! Thank you. (Thank you Hilary C!)
