This resource includes everything you need to target articulation sounds at the conversational level!
Do you ever feel like you are running out of things to do with your students who are working on their speech sounds at the conversation level? Or that you can’t seem to get enough data on those rarely occurring sounds? Well this resource will solve your problems! With over 520 pages of material, you'll be able to gather a ton of data! Bonus - it's all black and white with minimal prep!
The packet includes 9 activities for each sound –
- Warm up activities in a worksheet and a flashcard format
- 2 Fictional reading passages for each target sound with comprehension questions and opinion questions- Each passage comes in 2 versions- a plain version and a version with target words bolded to act as a prompt.
- One Functional Reading Activity for each target sound with comprehension and opinion questions. These passages may be resumes, menus, schedules, advertisements, etc. They are designed to elicit target sounds while practicing everyday reading tasks.
- Conversation Prompts – 19 prompts per sound. These prompts are designed to elicit target sounds.
- Would you Rather Game – 19 questions per sound (Except for vocalic /r/, which contains 30 – 5 for each of the 6 types). The student must pick between one of the choices and explain their reasoning. The choices contain their target sound – giving them another opportunity to practice in conversation.
- Fact or Fiction – 19 questions per sound. I usually have my student read the card to me or another student in the group for us to guess the answer. The prompts contain target sounds, requiring the student to produce the sound in order to participate in the game. The facts also generate great conversations about the topic, which often leads to more conversational productions of the target sound.
Semantic Absurdities - 15 per sound. Have your students read these silly sentences and then fix them to make them make sense. Each sentence contains the target sounds to get them using them in conversation.
Same vs. Different - 15 per sound. Have your students compare and contrast the two items on the card (containing their target speech sounds).
Currently, this packet contains all the activities listed above for prevocalic /r/, vocalic /r/, /r/ blends, /l/, /l/ blends, /s/, /s/ blends, /z/, /f/, /v/, “sh,” “ch,” “j,” “th,” /k/, and /g/.
