Explore the magical illusions of Optical art drawing, also known as Op Art. Pioneered by artists like Bridget Riley and more recently by Jen Stark. ❤️ Why should I run art centers in my classroom? Isn't that just for art teachers?

The short answer is NO.

We can no longer omit art explorations from our classrooms.

Art can make a powerful contribution to our students' mental health

In addition to helping students develop a number of important skills, free expression (like using art stations or art centers) is also good for overall health and well-being. Giving young children a creative outlet can help relieve stress and work through things happening in their lives. By encouraging artistic expression, you can help facilitate further learning and engagement. ✅ How do I use this product?

Each guide come is full colour and has a set of step-by-step thumbnail pages to print and laminate. Each photo step is also provided, full sized, to share on your large screen when introducing the activity. I have also printed these full size photos on the 4/page setting, then laminated and cut up to add to a jump ring. This option provides students with larger images but still in sequence. Add this to your drawing station as a self-directed activity for students to use independently.

⏰ How long should I run an art station for? 

If you are an art teacher, then you can make that call based on your programme. For classroom teachers, I recommend that an art center stays open for at least a week, prior to starting a guided, whole class art project with that medium.

Then for another week after completing that project, so that early finishers can further experiment independently.

This art activity introduces students to the media and techniques of Drawing. It uses easily available resources (coloured felts) and lends itself to creative diversity.

Students get to express their unique ideas through personal choices and modifications, while working at the DRAWING art centers, bringing personal creative ideas to the activity.
