Description

Arrays of fun! Arrays can be tricky especially for English Language Learners with all the new vocabulary on top of the addition that they have to do! That is why I break arrays into two parts with this activity. Day one only focuses on Rows. Day two focuses only on Columns. This allows a slow introduction to both the vocabulary and the mathematical concept! As always a script is included with this resource. The daily schedule of an Educator leaves little downtime. The script allows me to pass this resource on to a teacher assistant, student teacher, tutor, or parent volunteer without having to meet and explain how to utilize this resource. There is also a section for notes where you or your assistant can write down your observations, as students work with you on this incredible resource. I hope this resource is a blessing to your students as it is to mine!

Use addition to find the total number of objects arranged in rectangular arrays with up to 5 rows and up to 5 columns; write an equation to express the total as a sum of equal addends.
Interpret products of whole numbers, e.g., interpret 5 × 7 as the total number of objects in 5 groups of 7 objects each. For example, describe a context in which a total number of objects can be expressed as 5 × 7.
