What educators are saying

This product was exactly what I was looking for! My more creative students also appreciated how adorable the layout was and loved adding some color and doodles of their own! Thank you!
Sketch notes/doodle notes are a favorite of mine. When note taking is presented in a more creative manner, I get excited. When I get excited, the kiddos get excited too. Ty for creating a product like this for us to use!

Description

We all know that notes can be tedious and boring. Enter sketch notes. Once I saw my kids coloring and interacting with notes in a way I'd only wished they had before, I realized there is no turning back. These hand drawn sketch notes are designed to help introduce and breakdown an argumentative writing unit.

This note set includes five different pages (detailed below) and a link to the Google Slide presentation to present the vocabulary for Argumentative and Claim. It is basic, editable, and showcases the same doodles as the notes. The Argumentative Writing Slides contain one short example argument at the end (Teachers and Jeans!). This is for the teachers who want to be able to put the words on the screen or assign students the notes independently online.

Notes included:

  1. Argumentative Introduction (this is a quick overview page of basic terms kids will encounter in an argumentative unit, including small visual references to color and queue memory)
  2. Argumentative Introduction with suggested answers filled in
  3. Claim in Depth (this is a more in depth look at the qualities a good claim should contain and what students should look for in their evidence, also touches on audience and tone)
  4. Claim in Depth with suggested answers filled in
  5. Argumentative Appeals: Ethos Pathos Logos note sheet (space for definition and examples on each appeal, left blank for teachers to use personal examples or ask students to go on a hunt to find their own! Slides for this page aren't included.)
