Description

Use this lesson to teach middle school argument writing! Your students may have some background in writing, but they are struggling with the basics. This Google Slides™ or PowerPoint™ lesson, handout, and notes are exactly what they need to bridge any gaps! This presentation covers all of the argument writing basics, and the companion handout encourages students to follow along!

This basic introduction to argumentative writing includes teaching slides as well as practice slides for students to put their new skills into practice! There are also 3 argumentative mentor essays where students must identify the claim, reasons that support the claim, text evidence, and the counterclaim.

There are digital versions of the notes and practice activities!

  • You will get a downloadable PDF. In the PDF, there is a link to the digital versions. When you click on it, you will be directed to make a copy of them to your Google Drive™.
  • I have also included a link to digital instructions for assigning them in Google Classroom™ and Microsoft Teams™.
