What educators are saying

My students enjoyed using the lessons and outline for writing their Argumentative Research Essay. We worked on it together with my small class of 10 students. Thank you so much for providing this resource! Janice
This was extremely helpful to teach step by step, and have students complete their essays step by step. I did change a couple things to meet the needs of our district assessment criteria. Overall, the structure was great!

Description

This editable Google Doc™ graphic organizer/outline provides explanations for each sentence of an argumentative essay. Explanations for each sentence are given in the left-hand column and the right-hand column is blank for students to type in. The organizer has a total of five paragraphs and includes a counterclaim and rebuttal paragraph. Some of the harder sentences, such as the counterclaim and rebuttal, include sentence stems for students who need extra support. This resource can be used with any argumentative prompt.

This organizer has been a great way to get students who struggle to familiarize themselves with the writing process. I post the outline in my Google Classroom™. I can then make comments on the students' writing while they are working without having to answer the same questions about what each paragraph needs twenty times. This is a great resource for distance and remote learning.
