    Description

Do your kids have trouble finding the area and perimeter of odd shaped polygons? My kids always struggled with this, so I made several of lessons good for teaching and reteaching.

By purchasing this bundle, you are saving 25% off the price of individual resources.

IMPORTANT Make sure you have Active Inspire Software before purchasing this product. If you do not, the flip charts will NOT open on your computer. You may buy an identical product in PowerPoint at:

    Area and Perimeter PowerPoint Bundle

Inside this Area and Perimeter Bundle you'll find these FIVE Promethean Board flip charts:

•Area and Perimeter of Irregular Shapes

Teach area of irregular shapes through this two lesson power point consisting of figures where partial values of the sides are given. Students must look at the figures to determine the area and (with part two) the perimeter of the objects. The objects consist of multiple rectangles put together.

    •Area of Irregular Polygons

This fifteen slide PowerPoint takes students through a variety of problems for solving area. It begins with solving the area for figures that have multiple rectangles put together. First, a page is present to model with students and then four problems to be answered. After a likert chart, students solve three word problems involving area. Finally, four problems like the original ones are given for students to solve and turn in.

    •Area of Triangles and Parallelograms

Teach students to solve the area for geometric shapes through examples and word problems. The first part is a gradual release lesson for rectangles, while the second part teaches how to find the area of triangles. I originally taught this to gifted and talented fifth graders.

•Area and Perimeter of Composite Figures

Figuring the area and perimeter of irregular shaped polygons threw even my gifted and talented kids, as well as all the others, year after year. As a result, I have multiple lessons to address this hard to master skill from all of my reteaching. Here's a powerpoint designed to provide practice for those in need.

    •Perimeter of Irregular Polygons

Students solve the perimeter for shapes made up of several rectangles put together. Some of the side values are missing, so students must figure the values of missing sides in order to solve perimeter. Students may work independently or in groups. The

PowerPoint may be projected onto a smart/white board or chalk board from a computer or printed off.

Use the four operations to solve word problems involving distances, intervals of time, liquid volumes, masses of objects, and money, including problems involving simple fractions or decimals, and problems that require expressing measurements given in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Represent measurement quantities using diagrams such as number line diagrams that feature a measurement scale.
Apply the area and perimeter formulas for rectangles in real world and mathematical problems. For example, find the width of a rectangular room given the area of the flooring and the length, by viewing the area formula as a multiplication equation with an unknown factor.
