Description
Integrated Learning and Thinking
There is growing interest in environmental awareness and integrated learning through design education and visual, applied learning that relates to the built, natural and cultural environment.
The Architecture and Children Guidebook has 14 lesson plans that use the ideas, laws and principles that govern our environment to teach the physics of structure, design and math in nature and similarities between body systems, building systems and more. There are step by step lesson plans that help teachers to teach design, but also help students PK-12+ understand the interdependency of all things on the planet. While teaching about architecture and design, the program is largely interested in the process of learning through visual thinking, creative problem solving, teamwork, presentation of ideas and communication skills.
Though students may repeat the design process many times, a blank sheet of paper or model building materials become a palette for their self-expression which grows in complexity to higher levels of visual communication as the student matures. We now invite you to use this innovative curriculum and teacher’s guide and to involve your students in an exciting program that helps them not only to look at their environment, but to see it, have a stake in it and become a part of the stewardship movement of the planet.
